JMS raises rental opportunities with biggest ever Hinowa spider

new Hinowa Lightlift 40.18

Powered access specialist JMS has become one of the first hire companies in the UK to add the new Hinowa Lightlift 40.18 Performance IIIS to its fleet.

The investment strengthens still further the company’s position as one the leading providers of large tracked spider lifts.

JMS Managing Director Mark Jackson, pictured, said he had been keen to take the Hinowa 40.18, with its maximum working height of 40.2m, to complete their range of large Hinowa platforms.

Shared operating system – ‘key advantage’

He added: “We’ve had a lot of success with the ease of operation of Hinowa spider booms so I knew that taking what is now the largest machine in the Hinowa range would be a positive step.

“A big advantage of the Lightlift Performance IIIS range is that platforms all share the same operating system, and the new 40.18 is no exception.

“This makes it easy for our customers to hire the best platform for their specific tasks. With the 40.18 in our fleet, it just means they can work at even greater heights.”

JMS is a full-service national access platform hire specialist with a large fleet of the latest scissor lifts, aerial booms and spider booms, including a growing range of bi-energy and all electric platforms.

Linda Betts, Key Accounts Director for APS, which is the UK and Ireland distributor for Hinowa, said: “JMS is a trend setter when it comes to the hire of spider lifts, so we’re very pleased Mark and the team have seen the value delivered by the Hinowa 40.18.

“Because so many rental customers are familiar and comfortable with other Hinowa platforms, the 40.18 is, literally, raising hire opportunities for JMS. It’s taking their market higher.”

‘Enormous’ working envelope

The performance advantages of the Hinowa Lightlift 40.18 will also be popular, said Mark Jackson.

He explained: “The outreach of the 40.18 is better than any other spider lift in its class. Other platforms list a decent outreach but with the restricted weight capacity often required, it’s often not practical.

“The Hinowa Lightlift 40.18 has the same unrestricted 230kg basket capacity of all Hinowa Lightlift platforms right out to its maximum outreach of 17.5m. The basket can also reach 4m below ground level. That gives it an enormous working envelope.”

The Hinowa LL 40.18 also has a maximum basket capacity of 300kg out to 16.5m and up to its full working height – and a larger 2,000mm x 700mm basket to make the most of this increased capacity.

Flexibility of lithium bi-energy power

The spider cherry picker can also be set up in a narrow stabilisation area for working in particularly confined spaces – another function created by Hinowa to enhance the flexible use of its largest spider platform.

In this set up, the stabilisation area is 6,675mm x 3,640mm compared with a standard area of 5,375mm x 5,040mm, delivering a maximum working height of 35m, an outreach of just under 11m, and a 230kg basket capacity

JMS has selected a bi-energy version of the spider lift, which can be operated with a powerful low-emission Kubota diesel engine or using lithium-ion battery electric power.

Combined with its non-marking tracks, this makes it ideal for indoor and outdoor working, and operating near locations or at times where noise restrictions apply.

Working at height more safely

At just 1,200mm wide, 1,990mm high, and 6,820mm long when stowed for tracking, the Hinowa Lightlift 40.18 is still extremely compact and capable for working in constrained space.

Mark Jackson said: “It’s going to be popular with a wide range of our customers, opening up new possibilities for getting jobs done more quickly, more safely and with less effort than ever before.

“That includes tree surgeons, M&E trades, decorators, cladders, roofers, and building surveyors, with its outreach being just as big an advantage as its working height. We’re excited to have it.”

JMS offers for rent Hinowa spider lifts with working heights from 14.7m right up to the Lightlift 40.18’s 40.2m. It is also an extensive hire range of articulating boom lifts, telescopic boom lifts, scissor lifts and low-level platforms.
