Compact Lithium Hinowa Boom Allows for Work In Churches & Abbeys

Challenge: Based in Bristol, Avon Access is a specialist access rental company. It was winning an increasing amount of business conducting internal and external work for abbeys and churches. The company had a diesel-powered tracked boom that could switch to mains-electric power for working indoors. However, Avon Access found that this created issues around trailing cables – and locating a power socket was often a challenge.

Solution: Avon Access invested in a Hinowa Lightlift 20.10 IIIS Lithium machine. This tracked boom shares all the same specifications as the standard Hinowa 20.10 model, but is entirely powered by lithium-ion batteries.

The platform can lift 230kg – enough for two people with tools – without restriction throughout its working envelope of 20m maximum working height and up to 9.7m of horizontal outreach. The innovative dual pantograph boom design also allows easy working flush with walls and it has a three-speed drive system which helps reach the work area quickly.

With up to five hours of continuous working before the batteries need recharging, Hinowa’s Lithium lifts have transformed how tracked machines can be utilised for internal operations. Additionally, some outdoor applications around schools and hospitals also require less noisy operations, making the Hinowa Lithium machines ideal.

Outcomes: Prior to buying a Lithium machine, Avon Access had to switch to 240V or 110V mains electric and a long extension cable in order to operate inside buildings. These trailing leads can cause issues, particularly in areas where there are people present, or if power sockets are in short supply. The cable-free Lithium machine eliminates this problem. With no noisy diesel engine, it is also ideal for working in places of worship.
