Meet Paula Johnson: Putting the “Human” into Human Resources at APS

Access Platform Sales (APS) is delighted to welcome Paula Johnson as our new HR Manager – a role she approaches with warmth, energy, and a genuine passion for people.

With an MBA, professional HR qualifications, and many years of experience behind her, Paula is a seasoned HR professional. But what really sets her apart is her belief that HR should be approachable, supportive, and very much human.

As Paula explains:

“HR should never feel intimidating or distant. My role is about supporting people, listening, and helping everyone feel valued and confident at work. If we get the culture right, everything else follows.”

A Fresh, Human-Centred Approach to HR

Paula’s mission is to challenge traditional perceptions of HR and create an environment where people feel comfortable, supported, and genuinely listened to. Her focus is on building trust, strengthening culture, and celebrating the people who make APS what it is.

“We have to put the human into human resources,” Paula adds. “People bring their whole selves to work, and it’s important that HR reflects that.”

Getting to Know Paula

Outside of work, Paula has plenty of interests that reflect her creative and energetic personality:

  • Dogs: Proud owner of Zeus, her white German Shepherd
  • Outdoors: Enjoys long walks in the Lake District with Zeus
  • Baking: Known for brownies (chocolate orange and peanut butter favourites), cookies, and a famously unique rocky road featuring fruit pastels, Skittles, and jelly beans. Still waiting on a batch…
  • Music: A big fan of 80s, including Madonna and New Romantic classics, including Culture Club and Soft Cell
  • Cars: A soft spot for BMWs, being an owner and admirer.

A Welcome from Leadership

APS Managing Director Andy Bray says Paula’s appointment is an important step in continuing to strengthen the company’s culture:

“People are at the heart of APS, and Paula brings both experience and genuine care to the HR function. Her approach aligns perfectly with our values, and I’m confident she’ll play a key role in shaping a positive, supportive culture as we continue to grow.”

Looking Ahead

Paula’s arrival marks an exciting time for APS culture and internal communications. She will be working closely with colleagues across the business to support engagement, celebrate employee successes, and help create a workplace where people feel connected and proud to be part of APS.

We’re delighted to welcome Paula to the team and look forward to the positive impact she will have across the business.

Welcome to APS, Paula!
