Warren Access Supplies Isoli Truck-Mounted Boom To Assist With Christmas Light Display

Industry: Cleaning & Maintenance Manufacturer: Isoli

Challenge: The historic town of Alnwick in Northumberland has become a tourist destination after Alnwick Castle was one of the locations used in the Harry Potter movie franchise. The town, which is the ancient seat of the Duke of Northumberland, puts on a display of Christmas lights every winter. Alnwick Lights Christmas Committee required an access platform that could reach heights of up to 20 metres, but had compact dimensions for working in some of its narrow streets.

Solution: Warren Access is an independent access hire specialist based in Newcastle upon Tyne. The company has supplied access platforms to help erect the Christmas lights in Alnwick for more than 20 years. To solve this issue, Warren Access deployed an Isoli PNT 210 JD4 boom lift; a 21m articulating boom mounted on a 3.5t Nissan Cabstar chassis. It has a number of unique features including a dual pantograph boom which gives zero tail swing and excellent ‘up and over’ capabilities; and enhanced jib arc for precise positioning of the platform. A flat-bottomed basket makes it ideal for roofing work.

Outcomes: The compact outrigger footprint and exceptional working envelope of the PNT 210JD4 ensured that traffic interruptions were kept to a minimum during installation. The narrow jacking option means that, for some operations, the outriggers can be vertically deployed without first being extended outwards – this proved invaluable for working in confined spaces in Alnwick town centre.

“This is a rewarding but challenging task, as we are working against the clock and often in confined spaces, with overhead cables and other street furniture to contend with. The Isoli’s excellent working envelope and narrow jacking feature make it the ideal machine for this type of job.

“We continue to see strong demand for 21m trucks on 3.5t vehicles which can be driven by anyone with a standard driving licence. The first PNT 210JD4 has been very popular with our customers so we were keen to invest in another.”
