Jane Brooks Decorators Invest In Hinowa Boom For Its Exceptional Outreach And Performance

Industry: Painting & Decorating Manufacturer: Hinowa

Challenge: Jane Brooks Decorators, based in Launceston, Cornwall, has used tracked booms for several years, having owned and operated a 15m model for some time. The company wanted an access platform with considerably more outreach – but it needed to be sufficiently light weight that it could still be towed by a car, on a trailer.

Solution: Access Platform Sales sold the company a Hinowa Lightlift 23.12. This tracked boom has a maximum working height of 23.2m – over 50% more than the 15m model that Jane Brooks was using beforehand. Maximum outreach on the new model is 11.4m, and its excellent “up and over” reach means that the operator can set up on one side of a barrier such as a fence or hedge, and extend the platform over the other side, to reach walls that require painting.

Outcomes: Weighing just 3,100kg, the tracked boom is light weight enough for Jane Brooks Decorators to transport it on a trailer, without having to invest in a more powerful and expensive vehicle. Its compact stowed dimensions means it can pass down the side of buildings, while its low ground pressure minimises any disturbance to lawns and paved areas such as patios. The reach and performance of the Hinowa Lightlift 23.12 helped Jane Brooks Decorators to win new business, such as working on housing estates for major construction contractors like Barratt and Persimmon.

“Outreach was increasingly becoming a challenge with our 15m machine when working on larger properties.

“The Hinowa 23.12 is extremely easy to use and it provides us with almost double the outreach of our old platform. However it is still very compact so can pass down the sides of properties and through gates and doorways.”
