Height Platforms

Industry: Access platform rental Manufacturer: Hinowa

Challenge:

Height Platforms was the first access rental company in Ireland to take the bi-energy Hinowa Lightlift 33.17 Performance IIIS tracked spider platform. The company, with depots in Naas, Dublin and Cork, bought the platforms to meet growing demand for tracked spider booms to support high-rise building projects in Dublin and other large towns.

City planners are allowing clusters of tall buildings to be constructed closer together, reducing working space available to contractors, especially during fit-out. What was needed was a tall platform compact enough to operate across a busy worksite.

Solution:

Height Platform’s response was to buy Hinowa Lightlift 33.17 tracked spider platforms from APS. The platform has a maximum working height of 32.5m and a maximum outreach of 16.5m, with a 230kg unrestricted basket capacity. Yet, it has a travel width of just 1.7m, around 30 per cent less than a comparable self-propelled articulating boom. As a bi-energy platform, it can be operated using a low-emission diesel engine or a lithium battery powered zero-emission and low-noise electric motor.

Outcomes:

Height Platforms can offer customers a platform that is ideal for working at height on construction sites, even in the most confined spaces. It provides low-noise operation around sensitive locations, such as hospitals and in residential areas. This is particularly helpful in tower clusters where buildings may be occupied in phases while construction continues.

“There’s a trend in Dublin for buildings to be designed to be higher and closer together. This is creating some difficulties for conventional self-propelled booms which the Hinowa LL 33.17s overcome very well.

“As bi-energy platforms they help our clients meet their carbon footprint and quiet working commitments. They’re easy to operate, with smooth and precise controls and smart features for fast and safe working.

“Once our clients have tried Hinowas they don’t want to use anything else. Also, because the controls are compatible across the range, they don’t need any additional training to work at different heights.”
