Aldercote Van Mounted Boom Improves Productivity For Street Lighting Application

Industry: Telecoms & Utilities Manufacturer: Aldercote

Challenge: Morclad Access is an independent hire company based in Bristol, which specialises in vehicle-mounted boom lifts. It required a new van-mounted boom to meet growing demand for street lighting work.

Solution: APS supplied Morclad with an Aldercote VZ140P. Designed and manufactured in the UK, this high-specification machine provides market-leading performance in the 14m van mount sector, in key areas including vehicle payload, platform safe working load (SWL) and boom outreach. Mounted on an Iveco Daily 50C panel van, the Aldercote VZ140P provides 1.5 tonnes of payload. Another key feature is the 250kg platform safe working load; ample for two people with tools and equipment. By reducing the SWL to 120kg, it can deliver outreach of 9.3m. Automatic load/outreach optimisation ensures operation within a safe working envelope at all times.

Outcomes: Morclad found that the Aldercote VZ140P had superior performance to its previous 14m van mount when deployed on street lighting work. Productivity improved due to the quick set-up offered by the VZ140P, and the 250kg platform capacity which can easily accommodate the number of workers and their tools needed for this application.

“It is great to be able to invest in a high quality boom lift that is designed and built in Britain. The sweet spot for the Aldercote VZ140P is definitely street lighting as it is so quick and easy to set up. The performance is far better than our previous 14m van mount. In particular the 250kg safe working load is a big benefit for us.”
