42m Omme Lift Provides Low Ground Pressure For High-Level Cleaning

Industry: Cleaning & Maintenance Manufacturer: Ommelift

Challenge: Fletcher Access is a family-owned business run by brothers Simon and Anthony Fletcher. They specialise in contract cleaning of commercial, public and residential buildings. The company required an access platform with a working height of more than 40m, for cleaning windows, roofs, drains, cladding and solar panels on high-rise buildings. They needed a machine with a compact footprint for working in tight spaces; and low ground pressure, so that it did not damage paving or landscaped areas. They also required a hose fitting along the length of the boom, to enable jet washer from the platform when working at height.

Solution: APS provided Fletcher Access with a 42m working height Ommelift 4200 RBDJ tracked boom lift. Weighing just 6,805kg and capable of setting up on 27% inclines, the Ommelift 4200 RBDJ telescopic boom can operate in areas unsuitable for conventional self-propelled booms. Compact dimensions make it ideal for working in confined spaces. It can even pass through standard doorways.

Outcomes: The low ground pressure of the Ommelift means that it is ideal for working around high-rise buildings, as it does not damage paving or turf. The integrated hose ensures that operating the jet washer is quick and easy. It also prevents the hose from catching on the boom when moving the platform.

“The hose to basket was vital for us as we carry out a lot of high-level cleaning work on glass, cladding and solar panels. It prevents any snagging of a trailing hose when slewing the machine.

“The extremely low weight-to-height ratio of the 4200 was important as our clients prefer machines with a very low ground bearing pressure. The hybrid drive and compact stowed dimensions also mean that we can also use it indoors as well as outside.”
