17m Hinowa Boom Provides New Opportunities For Oxfordshire Gardening Company

Industry: Arb & Forrestry Manufacturer: Hinowa

Challenge: Founded in 2002 by Paul Williams, Trees & Gardens (Timber) Ltd is an established Oxfordshire provider of tree felling, pruning and shaping, as well as garden and landscaping services. The company was looking for a tracked boom lift with very compact stowed dimensions, so that it could pass down the side of buildings to access trees in back gardens.

Solution: Trees & Gardens purchased a Hinowa Lightlift 17.75 from APS, the authorised UK distributor for Hinowa. With a travel width of less than 0.8m and stowed height of under 2m, the compact Lightlift can pass through narrow gateways. Its ‘up-and-over’ ability also provides access over conservatories or single storey extensions. The Hinowa Lightlift 17.75 has an unrestricted safe working load of 230kg – enough for two people with tools –throughout its entire working envelope of 17m maximum height and 7.5m of outreach. The innovative dual pantograph boom design also allows easy working flush with walls and it has a three-speed drive system which helps reach the work area quickly.

Outcomes: The Hinowa machine has enabled Trees & Gardens to offer new services such as residential property maintenance. Along with new work on private homes, investment in the Hinowa lift has also enabled the company to expand into commercial building inspections. Paul hires out the machine with an operator for assisting surveyors to conduct rooftop assessments of commercial properties. For his core arborist business, Paul required an ultra-compact, one-man basket, in order to optimise positioning in amongst the tree branches. Hinowa designed and manufactured a bespoke one for him at its factory in Italy.

“A spider lift is a big investment for smaller companies like Trees & Gardens. However it has proved to be excellent value for money for tree work and is also allowing us to expand the business.

“We have had spider lifts before, but the compact dimensions of the Hinowa enable us to do so much more.”
